Two-layered forest (tvåskiktad skog) is a term describing the height distribution of trees in a forest stand. In a two-layered stand, there are two clearly defined height layers—an upper and a lower layer of trees—each with its own canopy. Two-layered stands often arise when a stand is in a transitional phase within clearcut forestry.
