Rotation period (Omloppstid)

A rotation period (omloppstid) is, in clearcut forestry, the time from when a new forest generation is planted, sown, or regenerated until the forest is final-felled. In Sweden, the average rotation period is around 100 years.1

The term is rarely used in continuous cover forestry because the forest consistently maintains a dense tree layer. In other words, there is no rotation period in a continuous cover forest.
