Gap cutting (luckhuggning) is a harvesting method where the forest is cut in small openings with a diameter of 25–50 meters. After harvesting, these gaps are allowed to regenerate naturally through natural regeneration.
Whether gap cutting counts as a continuous cover approach is debatable, since the gaps effectively become small clearcut areas.
