Hyggligt receives Vinnova funding for LiDAR-based tree analysis
Hyggligt has been awarded SEK 500,000 from Vinnova to develop technology that can automatically assess individual tree characteristics directly from LiDAR data. An important step toward more sustainable precision forestry (precisionsskogsbruk).

Hyggligt has been awarded SEK 500,000 in funding from Vinnova under the Innovativa Startups 2025 call. With this support, the company will further develop its software to automatically assess diameter, volume, vitality, and quality of individual trees in a forest stand directly from drone-collected LiDAR data.
The project marks an important milestone in Hyggligt’s work to develop decision support for precision forestry (precisionsskogsbruk). By increasing the accuracy of tree selection in continuous-cover harvests (hyggesfria avverkningar), the technology can contribute to improved profitability for forest owners while preserving biodiversity—and simplifying decisions about which trees to leave for the future.
Vinnova’s investment in innovative startups aims to promote Swedish innovation and strengthen sustainable business models in early development stages.
