ATL: “Half a million SEK for automated tree assessment”

ATL reports that Hyggligt has been awarded SEK 500,000 in funding from Vinnova under the Innovativa Startups 2025 call. The grant supports further development of the company’s technology for automated tree assessment directly from LiDAR‑based (lidarbaserad) drone data.
The article highlights how Hyggligt is developing decision support for precision forestry (precisionsskogsbruk), enabling analysis of diameter, volume, vitality, and quality for individual trees—without manual fieldwork. This is seen as an important milestone in building digital tools for continuous-cover forestry (hyggesfritt skogsbruk).
The project will run from November 2025 to July 2026 and includes reference data collection, software development, and testing. The goal is to produce more accurate inputs for tree selection in continuous-cover harvests (hyggesfria avverkningar), with the potential to improve profitability for forest owners and help preserve biodiversity.
