Diameter at breast height (Brösthöjdsdiameter)

Diameter at breast height (brösthöjdsdiameter), often abbreviated DBH, is a measurement of a tree’s diameter taken 1.3 meters above ground level. It’s most often measured with a caliper—a larger, simpler form of a sliding caliper. The diameter is measured either on the “meeting” edge, or—more accurately—by taking two measurements at right angles (to cross-caliper the tree).
